Cadila to build new pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in Russia
Indian drugmaker Cadila Pharmaceuticals intends to invest $150m for building a new pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Russia.
Citing Novosti Astrobl, RIR reported that the new facility will be set-up in the Narimanovsky district, Astrakhan Region of Russia, and will be used to manufacture most of the company's products, including anti-tuberculosis drugs.
Commenting on selection of the site for the facility, Cadila chairman and managing director Rajiv Modi said that the company's intention is to enter the Russian pharmaceuticals market has met with support in the Astrakhan Region.
Following the Astrakhan Region delegation's visit to the company's production facility in India, work commenced at the new production plant in Russia.
The Astrakhan Region was selected as part of the company's foreign expansion plans that include establishment of manufacturing facilities in the emerging markets of Russia, China and Africa and boost its sales in this region.
