Russia will slowly back away from foreign medicines
Russia is coping with the world crisis aftermath by reducing its budget deficit ahead of schedule and will reach its pre-crisis GDP level in the first half of 2012.
This came in a statement by the Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin during his record-long question and answer televised marathon on Thursday.“Russia will slowly close its market to imported medicines, expanding its own pharmaceutical industry, while stimulating investment in the development of national pharmaceutics,” – said Vladimir Putin. “I hope that this will generate a positive effect”.
Putin acknowledged that there is a problem of the growth of prices on medicines. “The main solution to the problem is the development of our own pharmaceutics industry,” – Putin stressed, reminding about the recent launch of the targeted federal program for the development of pharmaceutics through 2020.
Work on attracting foreign investors for joint work in the Russian pharmaceutical industry will occur contemporaneously.
