Novo Nordisk to build insulin production plant in Russia’s Kaluga
The Danish pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk will build an insulin production plant in Kaluga, a regional administration official said on Friday.
He said that a land purchase agreement on five acres in the Grabtsevo Technopark for construction of the plant was signed by the head of the Novo Nordisk’s Russian office, Sergei Smirnov, and by the director of the Kaluga Development Corporation, Vladimir Popov.
The administration official said that the company would invest $ 80-100 million in the plant’s construction in Kaluga and create 200 jobs. He added that the company would be up and running in 2011.
The head of the Russian Novo Nordisk branch said that they would provide high quality products and would share technology and experience with the Russian side in order to make insulin accessible to all Russian patients.
