Prices on flu medicine up 40 percent

Murmansk Oblast has the highest rise in prices on flu medicine in Russia, a control by federal health authorities shows. Prices on medicine to prevent or cure flu have risen all over Russia, but most in Murmansk Oblast, where they went up nearly 40 percent, a control by the Federal Service for the Supervision of Public Health and Social Development shows, TV21 reports.

The rise in prices concerns both the highly popular Russian medicament Arbidol and the Swiss produced Tamiflu. Also other goods that are in demand nowadays have become much more expensive lately. For example has the price of protection masks tripled in course of the last month.

As BarentsObserver reported, Murmansk Oblast authorities have declared the flu situation in the region as epidemic. Cultural and sport events are cancelled and people requested not to take their children abroad. Teachers and pupils are requested to wear masks at school.
