Russia’s first university clinic to open in Moscow in 2010
Russia’s first university clinic – Moscow State University’s medical centre – will open in 2010, Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov said on Saturday.
The medical centre will engage in research and diagnostic activities in the interests of the university’s Department of Fundamental Medicine and provide highly qualified medical assistance, in-patient and counselling.
The centre will employ 528 people. It will occupy an area of 44,000 square metres and will consist of five buildings of different levels from three to nine storeys.
The centre will have the most up-to-date “unique educational system” based on “information flows from medical departments from around the world”.
For example, “students in Moscow will be able to watch an operation being carried out in the United States”.
“This medical centre should match the level of leading world centres,” Moscow State University Rector Viktor Sadovnichy said.
