Byelorussian Drugs Much Cheaper than Imported Analogs
Medical preparations made in Byelorussia are much cheaper than imported analogs as the average price of locally made finished medication is about USD0.4, four times lower than analogous imported drug's.
According to Head of the state concern Belbiopharm V. Gapanovich, the national pharmaceutical industry produced RUR300 billion worth of products in 2007, 579 different medications.
Byelorussian producers accounted for 50% of the market in physical terms and 20% in value terms.
Annually 45% of locally made pharmaceuticals are exported to 15 countries - Russia (57.0% of exports), Kazakhstan (11.8%), Uzbekistan (11.0%), Ukraine (4.5%).
