Russia Develops Nuclear Medicine
Russian Federal Medical and Biological Agency developed a concept of the state special program on the development of nuclear medicine for fighting cancer.
Under the program, during 2010-2015 four nuclear medical centers will be built in Russia - in Dimitrovograd (Uliyanovsk region), Tomsk, Yekaterinburg and Dubna (Moscow region). The Dimitrovograd center will open the first (investments - RUR26 billion) followed by the Tomsk center (RUR34 billion).
The Tomsk Center will be developed on the base of the local nuclear physics institute and will use its developments. The centers will use all modern technologies, including neutron radiation, positron emission tomography, near-focal radiotherapy and ionizing source treatment.
