Train of Russian national anti-drug action arrives in Volgograd

“The Train into the Future” of the all-Russian anti-drug action arrived here on Wednesday.

“We brought new modern technologies, types and methods of the struggle with drug addiction among young people,” said Lieu.-Gen. Alexander Mikhailov, the chief of the department of interdepartmental relations of the Federal Drug Control Service. He is participating in the national anti-drug action.

The participants of the action will hold several educational and drug addiction preventive events in Volgograd. Such propaganda actions as “Choose Life”, “Ticket for the Way out of Captivity”, the seminars “Effective drug addiction preventive measures”, “Let’s become free” and many other events will be held in the city.

“The Train into the Future” is on the way from Moscow to Veliky Novgorod, Volgograd and back to Moscow. The train passengers are statesmen and public figures, doctors, narcologists, volunteers of rehabilitation centers, actors, journalists, sportsmen and all those who are occupied with drug addiction preventive measures in Russia. The action is mainly aimed at pooling efforts of state-run agencies, public initiative and the spiritual potential of the nation for the struggle with drug addiction in general, the fight with the drug addiction spread among children, teenagers and young people.

The Federal Drug Control Service department in the Volgograd region told Itar-Tass that the action makes part of the federal programme on comprehensive measures to combat drug abuse and drug trafficking in 2005-2009.
