BMI expects the Russian pharmaceutical market to rebound from a difficult year in 2009 and return to double-digit growth in 2010. After a 9.5% US dollar decline and 15.5% ruble increase in 2009, the market is expected to post a five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 17.41% in US dollar terms for the period 2009-2014.
The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America and the Mid-Atlantic Russian Business Council is hosting the 2010 Russian-American Pharmaceutical Conference next week in Philadelphia.
Emerging markets such as China, Brazil, Russia, India and Venezuela are expected to grow by 14% to 17% per year, while mature markets will plug along at 3% to 6% annual growth.
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday Russia needs to start a large-scale health-care reform in 2011 and pledged to allocate more than 300 billion rubles ($10 billon) in the next few years to improve health care in the country.
The Russian government will formulate a reform concept of the Russian health care system soon, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said at an awarding ceremony of the medics, who were named the winners of the all-Russian contest “The Best Doctor of the Year” here on Monday.
